Hi There,

I'm having the same problem. My iPod (video) 30 GB when connected to either Windows XP or 7 charges but does not show connected.

Did you manage to find a solution for it?

Thanks.

I have seen this problem a few times. If it shows in "my computer", but not itunes format it and it should go into recovery mode. Also try manually putting it into disk mode. Also try a fire-wire sync cable if you can find one. But if none of that works, what sometimes happens is that the pins on the dock connector get pushed out.
If you take the cover off you can see. IF this is the case you could push them back easily, but they often come back out as soon as you plug it back in, so I recommend replacing the connector. You could trying glueing the pins in place but I am not sure how well that would work. Hope that helps.

Try it with someone else's computer and see if it will connect then. Try a different cable too.
