How deep can you etch brass?

How deep can one etch brass (using the toner transfar method, like when making PCB's) before the acid will dissolve the brass under the toner? Like at the point it will dissolve the brass by going around the toner and coming up from underneith?

Depends on the resist and the etchent. Some etchents (like electricity) have very little undercut, while some (like nitric acid) undercut as much as they etch. I have found that toner transfer is not a stable resist for deep etching, it tends to wash away.

It will start to happen pretty soon. The etch can be a quarter of a millimeter deep and you'll already see the brass being eaten away at the edges.
