How do I get my dog to do what I tell her to do?

My dog is pretty much good friends with me, but she doesn't do what I tell her to do. He name is Willy. I feed her, give her baths, pet her, and play with her, but she doesn't do what I tell her to do. How do I change that?

Check out Cesar Milan (the dog whisperer). He is absolutely amazing. Basically he teaches how to treat your dog as a dog not a human and also to recognise the behaviours the dog exhibits and what to do about them. Not re-inforcing the behaviour you dont want. I highly recommend his methods. Good Luck.

Who is Cesar Milan?
Please look him up on Google. He is a brilliant Dog Trainer and most commonly known as the "Dog Whisperer".

OK. I will look him up.
> treat your dog as a dog not a human and also to recognise the behaviours the dog exhibits and what to do about them
. That is something that many dog owners never understand. Dogs are often compared to 2 or 3 year old kids (not an unfair comparison in many cases) but they are not small humans. Eg, a big, toothy grin is sign of aggression/challenge to most dogs.

> My dog is pretty much good friends with me
.  You're already off to a bad start. You are the Alpha Dog. You are The Supreme Boss. You and your dog can have lots of fun together, but you are not friends.
I so agree.

You have to train her. She has the brain power of a three year old human. How would a three year old act if they had never been taught language etc.?

OK! It's just that every instructable I go through does little change toher obidience.
Some dogs take weeks to change any behavior and some dogs learn in 5 mins. I had a professional trainer work with a deaf dalmatian that I had once and he got more done in an hour than I'd gotten done in a year.

Maybe you should look into professional help just to get things started.

doing things the same way each time is a part of the key. If you change your methods in mid stream they don't understand.

I don't change very often. I've only had her for 6 months, but all the methods I tried has done little difference. May be I will look for a professional trainer.
