How do I make a basic guitar amp? I've seen the instructable but I think i need something simpler and smaller.

Just something really simple; like how to make a basic amp circuit and then how to wire it to a speaker or something along those lines.

It's very simple to make a guitar amp out of an old cassette player/boom box!You just take it apart and remove the head wires from the head and reconnect them to a jack/plug in that will accomedate your guitar cable and poof there it is! P.S. if you use a boom box that was powered both by batteries or house current then you have a amp that will work that way too!
Well ,you can try hooking up your guitar to the aux -in jacks of a boom box
or home stereo system. They are usually rca type jacks located in the back of
the equipment
Just buy a 1/4 inch female phono jack to rca plugs adapter. They sell the adapter at radio shack.http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102973

Here is a basic guitar amplifier. You can order the kit or build it off of the schematics that they provide. Actually, here are six amplifier circuits.
