How do I make a washtub cello with a fingerboard at least 2 strings and bowed or plucked?

Dennis Havlena has plans for a 4 stringed bass http://dennishavlena.com/db.htm. I want a simplified cello version of it!

Have a look at projects for cigar-box guitars (or banjos), and scale them up.
