How do I make my device commercially available?

Let's say for the sake of argument, I just created a prototype device using Arduino and other components required to make it work, but I want to make it cheaper and commercially available using fewer or different parts. Where could I start in finding what I need to make it work? What steps should I take to simplify my device?

EDIT: Preferably without using the Arduino.

Are you talking about mass-production, or ~up to 100 in your own home?

For this scenario, I'm thinking mass-production, though limited numbers.
That's a non-sequitur ! How many <=1000 <= 500 <= 100. Even those increments need different design approaches. Steve
Do you mean using an "Atmega 168V" or the "Arduino board" - I've designed stuff using Arduino code, but my own PCB. Steve

An Arduino board, yes. I'm trying to eliminate the board and simplify the design, because I know packing an Arduino chip in some devices can be pricey.
So just use the ATmega168 on its own, should cost you about $2 in small quantities. Steve
