How do I open the housing on a small, single head laboratory vacuum pump?

There are three little black metal pieces keeping the motor housing closed.  I'm not sure how to remove them.  I think the on/off switch on the pump got bent and I would like to simply fix that part.  But I can't get to it because the housing is closed with these pieces.  Any help would be appreciated.

I think you are talking about spring clips.

Looks like a flat piece of metal bent kind of like a elongated G or a C when viewed from the side.

If it is just take a flat screw driver and get it under the bottom of the elongated G or C and pop the clip off.

Hello All!

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly! I will see what I can do today about getting a picture uploaded.

In the mean time, I have the Brand and Model Number: Thermo Scientific Vacuum Pressure Pump Model 420-1901. It is a small single-head pump. I did talk to one guy. He said the switch could probably be fixed, but he recommends using a "jig" to make sure everything stays aligned when attaching the switch to the motor.

Again, thank you for the interest thus far!

Hi jrrm
As a new member you might not know  how to upload a picture to your new personal library.
If you already know how skip the following boiler-plate.

Take a focused picture of the item with your phone.
eMail it to yourself
transfer it ie save the pic to your document file
go back to your instructables home  you-page
then click on image_library under your avatar
there click on choose_files and find your file under My_Documents
probably named photo.jpg in your download  file
Click on that file and click Open
a text box with the pic name should open
Now click the Upload_Files and wait 30 sec
before you click on Your_library, which should show your image

With this image you can include it when you answer our questions to help you !
