How do you attach a coil to a car hood as a prank to keep people from sitting on your car?

Hi, I'm researching for a story I'm writing about a stunt that my uncle pulled once. He wired a coil of some sort to the hood of his car to "keep anyone from sitting on it". This was around 1957. It really worked. Unfortunately all relatives that would remember this stunt have passed on. But I want to immotalize their high art of practical jokes in a published story. Do you think that an engine coil or tesla coil was used ?(he was very clever, an inventor) What sort of voltage would this have put off? And how much would it have hurt someone who sat on the hood? - I appreciate your help. I'll mention your name, if you'd like, as a consultant when my book is published. Thanks- Allie

It may be an ignition coil powered Tesla coil.
You are trying to make a 'man trap' and may be liable to prosecution.
Anyways, you could make something like this http://www3.telus.net/chemelec/Projects/Car-Coil/Car-Coil-1.png
