How much would you pay for a DeskSquid?

I was going to look into some mass production options for something like this, there's been a lot of interest but even I thought the cost a little high (close to ~$50 in parts). Before I even bother contacting a manufacturer I wanted to see what my fellow makers would be willing to pay, just to see if this is doable.

Forget what's it worth, if this walked into the hardware store what would be your "buy-it-now" price, think about it price, and forget it price.

*Just the desksquid not the mini

I would pay up to $10 USD, as you can get a good helping hands for about $5, and the desk squid is way more usefull, and way cooler as well. :)

I agree, buy the parts from (I never thought I would say this) china, and that will lower the cost. Also buying in Bulk will really help with cost. As for how much I would pay, I'm thinking no more than 20 bucks. I would only really be using the the arms and the mag glass. Also, I think there needs to be an alternative way to attach it. I noticed the main rig looks as if you have to screw it to your desk. I use my computer desk for all of my work, so I wouldn't be able to attactch it in that manor , but if you could clamp it down, that would be cool. Just my thought.
$10 Canadian, because I can buy a similar product without the gooseneck lamp for slightly less at my local hardware store.

Is it something like these? I've seen the helping hands for as little as $3.

Nope it's a set of aligator clamps on metal gooseneck things. The magnifier is on a rod.

Any chance you have a picture?
I'm about 450 km's away from my town right now. I spend less time at "home" than I do at the "cottage," which is very much an out-of-the-way hideaway. Still, if I go out to town anytime in the next few weeks, I'd be happy to try and get a snap.

10-20 dollars max. It looks like a lot of your parts are sourced from real products, hence the high production cost. If you got a lot of 'made in china' parts it would be produced a LOT cheaper.

That's what I'm hoping to accomplish. I just wanted to have a target in mind, if people won't pay more than $20 for something like this it might be unachievable, so before I made some phone calls I wanted to get some makers opinions.
