How to build a stomp distortion pedal?

Im really into guitars and have heard some things about making pedals. I have very minimal electrical expertise. i have wires and stuff in the basement and am wondering how i would go about doing said project?

Since you have little electronics experience, I suggest you find a good kit to start out with.  Getting all of the parts and making the pcb and reading the schematic without printed instructions is too much without some experience.

A kit won't cost much more than the parts by themselves and sometimes will cost less.  A kit will have printed step by step instructions.  A kit will have all of the correct parts in the package so all you have to do is assemble correctly and it will work.  A kit should have a explanation of the theory of the parts and how they work together so you learn a little about then as a unit.

Here's a link to some really nice effects kits.  They are complete and should be nice to use when finished and a good learning experience also.

There are lots of schematics available if you still want to go it alone.  Just google "guitar effects schematics".

btw... i also like guitars. i have an eppiphone hololow body. i also have a vox amp to use it with. hope you find a good answer.
