Here is a lemon battery ( you can use potatoes too ) and
a simple inverter the ubiquitous joule-thief
running a white LED.

battery: take something with copper and something with zink and throw a ton of it into a vinigar bottle put 2 wires in and ta-da you have a battery

inverter: take a wire and put a piston on the middle of it and when the piston extends it bends the wire and breaks the flow of electricity

1. It will not be cheaper.

2. It isn't the easiest electronic product to make and get working effectively

thank u sir...
While batteries are difficult to make; you can purchase 'inverter kits' at electronics shops (I am guessing that you are from India)!

if you can make a battery you do not need an inverter.
just make the battery high enough voltage to power the devices you need.

After all the electronics converts all AC to some DC in a TV or radio even
lights take AC to DC to HF AC.

NOW You can just start at the DC step.
