How to make smart Distribution power box?

Hello folks i am student of final year . I am doing a project in final year named as "Smart Distribution Power Box" .
Its electronics and IOT based project . i just have an idea about it . but don't know how to start it what steps i follow to take it forward . Actutall i 'm trying to make the device something like TED Spyder here is the link of this device you can get idea from this link what i m trying to say .. Its a smart home energy monitor . 
first o have to measure phase voltages and currents , then have to calculate real ,reactive and apparent powers power factor,current voltages at rated load ,load varriations,  then i have to make a soft interface to show it in graphical and well as numerical forms on a smart device . 

Please like to suggest something how i can move on and how i can make it.

GE, that is a company that makes Electric Diesel locomotive PIC_1, also makes a Four-Quadrant PS Inverter PIC_2 which can be smoothly supplied by a 3-phase system and be over driven to reverse power the Mains in proper phase and unload power smoothly to the grid..

My inclination is to say its your project so you need to sort it out.

WHY did you select something you have no idea about?

Look at what others have done - analyse how it has been done and what you need to focus on.

If you going to go with IOT then your going to need some kind of processor - can you programme? What processor will you use, what language, what I/O.

You badly need to sit down and write out in words a specification for what your trying to do so you can get your head around it.

It seems to me you just may have bitten off more than you can chew.
