How would I go about making a sign that could be turned on and off via wireless button?

I was approached by an elderly person in my community who wants me to make a sign that would say "Come on In" because they can't get to the door very easy. I just want ideas, not instructions(I want a learning experience). Thanks!

You don't say where you are in the world, but here in the UK I guided someone to the necessary radio hardware, for less than 30 GBP.

You can buy kits that come with a key fob remote with one or more buttons and a receiver. Link the receiver with a micro controller so when it gets the signal from the receiver it can activate whatever kind of sing you want to make. Go with a kit that offers more than 1 button and install an electronic lock on the door so they can unlock or lock it as needed. No reason for an elderly person to keep there front door unlocked all day.

Thanks for the answer! Just the husband has health issues and can't get to the door very fast. His wife is fine, and she is usually out and about. She contacted me about making this. I was thinking having one remote with a button or switch that would turn it on or off. I appreciate the answer.

Perhaps a sign that said "I've heard you, I'm coming (slowly)" would be safer as then people wouldn't assume it was open all the time.

Thanks, I will think about that. Do you think I should do an LED sign or something that would have a diffused LED behind a cut-out type thing of the message. I was thinking maybe something with sandblasting some glass.
