I am new to this and my background is automotive, Can you epoxy the anode and cathode to the battery on the throwies?

My suggestion is no, soldering is more likely to maintain contact with rough handling. Epoxy doesn't conduct electricity.

If you can do this and insure that the anode cathode actually touch the metal battery casing (resulting in a conducting path) then yes, that's fair game.
