I have a question about 360 controller mods

I plan on buying a DIY mod kit from ebay to modify a 360 controller. In the kit, there are some simple parts and then there is an 8-pin PIC microcontroller. I am wondering if there is a way (inexpensively) that i can connect that microcontroller to my computer, get the code programmed into that, and program it onto another microcontroller. I want to do this so that i can make more of the kits for much cheaper for my own personal use (to use on more controllers). Is there any way that i can do this cheaply? And can i get the blank 8-pin microcontroller and a microcontroller reader/writer from radioshack or somewhere similar?

you will need a chip programmer - theres tonnes of them on instructables - look for programmer I don't know for sure if its possible to burn a fuse when writing a microcontroller to prevent the hex code from being extracted - I don't think it is, as people usually want to leave the ability to upgrade their processors. The chips will be available by part number, commonly a pic microcontroller (picf8..... etc) - for anywhere from 10's of cents to dollars. Mouser.com is my choice for this. Digikey.com is good, but you have to order a lot to overcome the handling fees I'm guessing this is a rapid-fire mod? Odds are the source code to make the controllers is freely available open source - google it :D
