I need a cheap 8-10" LCD display. Are there any digi photo frames that can be converted to a VGA input?

My laptop just died. I want to build a new one. Pelican case style. I don't want to spend a ton of money on the tft touchscreen deals. I just need a display, preferably 800x600 or better display. I really don't want to have to use a TV out to a portable DVD player. As far as not buying a eee or something similar I work in the oil field so this thing will probably see some pretty crappy conditions.

If you need a smaller laptop, i would recommend the new generation of netbooks. Theyre not much bigger than the photo frames you asked about but they're fully functional notebooks, except they're portable. Couldnt advise about cost, though...

You'd be better off looking for an LCD TV or a premade VGA LCD screen. I have been looking at digital photo frames and I've found that only the expensive ones have a decent resolution and quality. More importantly, they're not built to understand VGA input and interfacing with the LCD may require designing a new circuit to control it. Furthermore, I've seen decent LCD TV's and monitors for cheaper than some of the "good" photo frames I've looked at.
