Go to a toy store or maybe even a thrift store and look for a hollow plastic dog like the one in the link below. Carve a silver dollar sized slot in the back and you're good to go.
Perhaps you can find a stuffed animal upon which you can make an incision . Then take out some of the stuffing and insert a plastic container ,or maybe sew a heavy duty nylon pouch for the money bag and insert that. You could then sew in a self healing zipper ( they have two zipper pulls) into the incision. The slightly opened zipper could then function as the coin slot, or unzip all the way for that stash of cash.
