I need to put rear brakes on an adult trike. Any help?

I purchased an old three wheel bicycle from a local secondhand store. It's in great shape, except the fact that it is lacking rear brakes. I haven't had any success in searching for plans, so I was wondering if anyone had an idea or (better yet) previous experience with rear brakes on a trike.

I was hoping for a great way to run both rear brakes from a single brake level on the handlebar, and there aren't any forks around the rear tires to attach brakes to, so I guess I could use some help there as well. The rear conversion kit looks similar to the one here. It's a small picture, but it's the only accurate one I could find.

Any help would be amazing. Thanks in advance.

Do any of them have rear breaks?

You actually have two different problems here.
1.  Fitting breaks.

2.  Getting equal pull so that both breaks work.

If it were me I'd just fit one wheel or the other and not worry about the other one.

And I'd look at other trikes and see how they got breaks setup on them then work out something similar.
.  Looks like a solid axle in the picture. If so, you only need one brake

It is a solid axle. Would a single disc brake in the middle work? It would have equal pull on both wheels because it is actually stopping the entire axle at once.

But I guess the question is this: would one brake in the middle stop both wheels? I'm not exactly a small guy. I would need a fair amount of braking power to stop my 250 lbs. (plus 25-ish for the trike itself).

. Yes. It will also work if you put the brake on one of the wheels.

. You now have three wheels doing the braking, instead of just two (assuming you have a front brake).
