I want to decorate some plastic slider pencil cases for use as Family Reunion favors? Does anyone have any ideas?

I would like for the decorations to be either "Family" or "Reunion" related. I plan to do 80-100 of these for varying age groups between 5yrs. and 80yrs. The cases come in various colors and will be filled with items useful to recipients according to gender/and age group, or something anyone could use one, such as personal toiletries, crafts, cosmetics, etc. As of this time, I'm not sure exactly what will go into them, since my budget is tight, but I would want the items to be useful. Any ideas on this part would also be appreciated.

For a big event like a reunion, I'm guessing you would want the boxes to have a uniform look, and attractive would be a nice bonus. You could do this by covering the outer casing of the boxes with either fabric or wrapping paper. Fabric looks nicer and can probably get closer to your theme... but wrapping paper might be cheaper. If you can't find either with a theme that you like, you could probably dig around for some royalty free clip art and print it out. If you do, I would suggest black and white art. Then you could take it to your office supply store (Max or Depot, etc.) and have them print it out. Choose a bright colored paper for contrast, and you have a design that is all yours. For the favors themselves, I personally would also choose something more themed to the reunion itself. A booklet made with folded and/or stapled paper makes a good mini scrapbook, especially if you make a cover to match the case (glued or printed on card stock). Add pens, pencils, crayons for the kids, glue stick, and maybe raid the sale section of your local craft stores for other scrapbook extras to put in. Pictures taken by the family shutterbugs - maybe printed a little smaller on the house computer - can help fill in the rest. Just some ideas.

Hmm well you could go to the dollar tree or general and get some duct tape for a buck and and make duct tape pencil holders. it holds up to 6 pencils or pens. If you need an instructable i am about to post one on how to make duct tape pencil holders :] hope i helped!

Thanks for your suggestions. Sorry about the late reply, but I'd lost contact with this site until today. Thanks for your suggestions, I love them.. I didn't do the project this time (conflict of ideas with the host), but will be working the project up for the next reunion (2010). Will be looking up your "Duct Tape" pemcil holder project also.
I havent had time to. I am working on it right now!
