I have solved this problem well by using the professional Amacsoft iphone to mac transfer(http://www.amacsoft.com/iphone-to-mac-transfer.html), which makes it possible to back up iPhone photos, music, videos, movies, podcasts and TV programs and more to Mac easily and quickly. It really a versa software for iTunes. But it's worth taking a moment to flag the fact that this iPhone Transfer for Mac program works just like iTunes but easier than iTunes.

If both of your computer and iPhone are on the same Wifi networks, you can try to use Wifi Photo Transfer from Apple store to transfer photos off iPhone to Mac. It is free now. Besides, you can copy photos from iPhone to Mac directly with iPhone photo transfer or Image Capture. Just hope my answer can help you well.

Plug the phone into the mac and the phone should show up like a camera in iPhoto...then just import all. If it doesn't show up, post what version of mac OS X you are running.

Don't they supply you with a u.s.b Lead plug into the phone and it would show up on your desktop as a new E. or F drive. where you just transfer a copy to your pictures folder. thats how i do it.
