I would like to remove some paint someone put on a lovely lamp.

This is a glass lamp with one large round top with flowers painted on it.(original)  The bottom round glass part is a little smaller and has flowers on it,too.  This is the way it was purchased.  The paint someone ?? put on it is just above the metal part where the top sits in.  It's not a large amount  but of course I need to try not to damage any more of the original paint.   Thanks

If you can remove the painted piece, putting it in a crockpot with water to cover and a few drops of dish soap and then "cooking" it for a day or two works well.

you can get a sort of gloop that if you leave an object in it for some time scrubbing a regular intervals gets rid of paint on the object.
a day or two should do.
you should be able to get some at a hardware store

I'm with Ork, I can't figure out exactly what it is you're describing, but I will say that if you can disassemble it, your job will be a lot easier. Removing the old paint with heat or chemical strippers might be possible that way. Otherwise you may be limited to trying to carefully sand and scrape off the old paint.

A photo or two might be helpful; I can't quite visualize it from your description.
