IWhat will happen if I hook 2 joule thieves together?

I want to hook 2 or more joule thieves together so that the voltage will increase much more. Will this work to have one generating 3 volts and have that hooked up to a second, generating 6? Also, how many milliamps does one joule thief generate, and would that number double too? Also, what sort of resistors would I need for the increasing voltage with each one? I have an instructable idea that would involve them being hooked up to a motor to generate electricity, and if you can help me we can collaborate on it.

Use a camera-flash unit - similar principles - high voltage from ~1.5V.
What exactly do you want to power and from what power source?

I wan't to have a hamster wheen hooked up to a small motor, so that when the hampster runs, it would generate enough power to charge an ipod/iphone
You'll have to seriously gear your hamster's wheel to the motor to do ANYTHING. Bear in mind that the motor designed for say 3V operation, has to spin at several thousand RPM to do it.  Hamsters, even on Amphetamine, are highly unlikely to really get that kind of burn going, since it means that their legs would be moving supersonically, and I haven't seen any reports on smoking, hamster shaped holes in walls.

Hmmm, probably not.  Have you tried using two batteries instead of one?
You can increase the voltage by increasing the number of turns on the transformer, at the price of reduced current. You are not "creating" energy, merely extracting it from the source. In other words, the product of Volts X amps is a constant.

Here's your answer.

I personally think that someday this will be changed but by a much more complicated process than you describe.  It may take discovering a whole new component in energy.  I doubt that I'll ever know the answer.
