Internet Explorer can not open this website.

This is the message I get when I try to get acess to a website such as Radio  I am using a Dell desktop with Windows Vista Home Basic  and am stuck with Dial-up connection which runs pretty slow anyway. The display then shifts to a screen that says something like  This webpage could not be opened.  This is not a new problem.  It's been happening for months. Anybody got an explanation or way to keep this from happening?  I run Microsoft Security Essentials but it always comes up clean.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Could this be caused by a virus or spyware, or maybe a software glitch?
Thanks for all replys!  LeShane

I just had a notebook in for repair that was running that Microsoft program and it was infected with a virus. Get a good antivirus like McAfee and scan with that and also download Malwarebytes and scan for spyware. If you didn't have such a slow connection your computer would probably already be toast. The virus is redirecting your browser to a different page in an attempt to upload all its friends. Also use Firefox instead of IE whenever possible.

Dial-up connection which runs pretty slow - may be a time-out.
Have you tried anything other than IE?
