Is it legal to download Windows Vista from here?

Hi, I was wondering if it is legal to download Windows Vista from this site:
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Windows-Vista-Download-42021.html

I think softpedia is pretty well known, but I'm not sure.
Also, I have a key from a diferent computer that doesnt have Vista installed on it, could I use that key to activate Windows Vista on a diffrent machine?

Thanks in advance.

You can get Vista downloads direct from the Microsoft web site. As long as your key is legit it should work.

Is there an actually Vista OS download from that site?

I can't find one.
There used to be. I am trying to find it also. They also used to have an ISO of the disc.

I think Microsoft stopped giving ISOs to the public right off their website. Too many pirates. Sometimes if you make a phone call you can get a ISO. :)

This might explain why we can't find it there anymore.

The future of Windows Vista
Microsoft no longer sells Windows Vista, though we will continue to support it. It is still available from some retailers.

They already killed it.

thats to bad
Well, if you can find someone with a dvd of it that matches your key you can install from that disc or even a copy of that disc. It is the Key that you actually buy, the disc doesn't matter. You might also be able to find an ISO of the disc somewhere for download. (An ISO is the disc image of a CD/DVD that a burning program uses to make a new disc. )

I just did a Google search and found a lot of them.

Here is one that might be OK, http://fixitwizkid.com/threads/microsoft-windows-vista-sp1-official-isos-downloads.4671/

Just remember that these are very large downloads and that some of them could be infected with unwanted things. Do a scan with a good AV . If you are putting it on a clean drive and its a corrupt copy then you are only out your time for the effort. So you really have nothing to loose. You might also be able to find it on some of the torrent file sharing sites.

This one is from Dell, Since they are still supporting their PC's with Vista they have the ISO of it available and it will work with the Dell/Vista key.

Thanks very much! :D
According to this page,
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Miscellaneous/Windows-Vista.shtml
the license for that download is of type "Trial".

And the way Trial-ware licenses work is explained here:
http://www.softpedia.com/user/licensing_nonfree.shtml

At the end of the trial period, the software is going to disable itself, or nag you to buy a license so you can keep using it, or probably do both those things.
While it looks to be a legitimate download, I don't think it's what you're looking for.

"Requirements:

· Microsoft Virtual PC
· Virtual Server
· In addition to the System Requirements for the virtualization product, you will need additional disk and memory resources for running the virtual machine. This VHD is pre-configured to use approximately 10GB of hard disk space and approximately 1024MB of "

The description seems to be suggesting that it is an admin/IT tool, not the actual OS.

Still worth a look, seeing as it's free.
