LED mau5head?

What kind of LEDs would I need to make a replica of deadmau5's LED mau5head? I already know how to make a mau5head, I just don't know what I need for a LED head and how to install the LEDs. Links would be appreciated!

Uhm I kinda had the same idea for making such a mau5head. Just get a buttload of superbright LEDs at an electronics supply store and arrange them on a circuitboard or a piece of styrophoam or something light and wire it all up (I'd recommend a circuit board for ease of use, maintance and well, there are probably going to be a lot of LEDs :D)

Once they've been wired up I would connect it all with an andruino brain and write an application that would "paint" images, vectors or text with the LEDs. I am not sure on where to start but in general you could set up the LEDs in a matrix (for example reasons I would say 24x24) and treat it as my canvas. Then you could go and make or get some sort of processor that could make a dot matrix out of an image (similar to a RIP in printing) or make on/off presets to turn on LEDs.

Maybe you should ask a friend that can code or somebody else you know :D

The cheapest, fastest, and easiest way would be to go to a dollar store and buy a few of those stick-on puck lights with the LED's. They are meant to light up closets and other dark spaces, and they are fairly bright. They'll come with batteries and a simple press on switch. Just install with some double sided tape (or however you need), and you should be good to go. :-)

I'm not really talking about those kind of LEDs, I'm talking about the mau5head that displays images on it on LEDs.
Sorry, not sure what you mean... I thought the Deadmau5 head just had lit up eyes and mouth....

Can you be more specific? (A picture would help if you could upload or link to one).

This is the mau5head I was talking about:
If all you need is the display of lights (because I'm still uncertain about your description of "displaying images"), then I would get two (or more) battery powered LED light sets (like Xmas lights), and arrange and secure them in position using styrofoam (which is light weight). Then install the battery packs and switches where they can be easily accessed. You would then need to create alternate eye holes (to allow you to see, if you intend to wear this), and cover the holes with a dark screen (if the rest of the head is black). That would allow you to see, but the screen would obscure the holes enough that they wouldn't be obvious from the outside.
I've been trying to find out how to build this LED head also...

canucksgirls, the head XEblaw is mentioning is something like this one:

You'll be needing RGB (multi-colored) LEDs for a replica helmet, each with controllers to be able to do the sort of patterns etc..

Here's a link to what it looks like inside Joels actual helmet..

And someone who recreated their own one..

With 760 RGB LEDs!

If I were you i would go with just a simple regular LED there pretty cheap and really bright.Heres a radio Shack link to the LED I'm talking 'bout. As you wished a link! :D

Thanks for the link, but I'm not sure if that's exactly what I'm looking for. Look out the reply above for more info.
