Large automated nut roaster?

I am not particularly gifted at the finer points of building things and would love your thoughts:

Have you made, seen, or have ideas for a very simple automated, rotating DIY roaster that could be used to roast a large amount of nuts?

Or on a simpler scale, Ideas for adding a motor to one of those whirley pop popcorn stovetop jobbies to get the handle turning automatically?

Thanks all!

"chestnuts roasting on an open flame" why not have a hollow sphere with a hole that is heatable then make a spit by running a rod through the sphere or even a better idea use an old bingo ball shuffler (craigslist/ebay) then just figure a way to motorize it with a drill or something

You can get economical-fryers that look like they'd work.
