Little cut off pieces going airborne.?

I don't know about you but with my saw I have learned to be very careful with those little cut off pieces. Maybe my saw vibrates more than others but after making a cut I have had the cut offs vibrate and slide back into the blade and when that blade hits them they get launched. I use a scrap stick to push them away from the blade into a safe place. The small ones will not kill you when they kickback at you but they do sting. Have you had a problem with this?

Excellent question!

Modern saws have a crown guard that sits over the entire blade, when stock is pushed through the guard moves up and out of the way. For this class, I do not have this guard on my saw. Though the crown guard doesn't solve the problem of small pieces flying off ti does minimize it.

The solution is to layer your safety precautions: crown guard, blade height, psh sticks, and not standing directly behind the cut you are making.
