My Daughter has asked me to design an illuminated handbag so she can find her keys in the dark?
I know that I could do it with LED's but I would prefer to use some kind of illuminated material (electroluminescent?) if such a thing exists.

Yeah, I saw a handbag with electrolumisescent lining online a few years back. Some design student made it.

There is always EL wire. You can buy it already assembled, so you don't have to worry about shocks or burns. Also it is available in a variety of colors.

True that. Just be careful with the power supply and wiring, since it will give someone quite a shock if the leads are touched.
