Office - Under Desk Accent Lighting?

I have two of the Mikael Ikea desks which I use for my computer setup in my office/bedroom, the room has a four color scheme of red, green black and silver. I was hoping to add accent lighting underneath each of the desks, preferably blue or green. I wanted to know your opinions of what type of lighting or methods to use? Ideally it would cost under 50 pounds.

Rope lights are probably your least expensive option. That link shows full spools, but you normally purchase it by the foot. There are connector caps that press onto each end and engage the cut wire leads.

You can also find assembled kits with fixed lengths and the connectors already attached. Shouldn't cost you more than 10 pounds.

Have you looked into LED strip lights?
http://www.theledlight.com/ is a good resource for lights. They should provide a good strong light that using very little energy.
