Portable DVD player video input/output selector

G'day,
My portable dvd player has a video input/output port and uses a remote to switch between them. Is there a way I can permanently make the port an input only or is there a way I can add a switch to the circuit board?
I am using the lcd as an external monitor because the dvd player died. If there is an easier way to add input ports to the lcd other than using the original circuit board please advise.

i don't think it would be very easy getting the signal to be permanently input

 No, it would be a much better idea to leave as-is, or to salvage the screen and use it to make a portable game system.

Thanks for your advice. I decided to leave it as is and mount it in a new enclosure for fun.
