Problems uploading program into arduino uno ?

doing lesson 2 and when uploading program into arduino uno, I get this message, it has happened twice, I have updated program but still getting this and no lights:

Looks like you don't have the correct port selected, or that your board isn't plugged in (silly to mention, I know, but still... we've all made that mistake!). Check your settings and try again. Were you able to upload code successfully previously to this error?

Haven't been able to upload any code into either of my Uno, get the same message every time, it is hooked to comp on com 1 as it asks when you download the program.
