Rotary Phone made wireless without any rewire?

What cool thing would be if a Old Rotary Phone could be conected with your 2 wires into a Battery powered "thing" that would make this old phone wireless and fully working to the new line system?

There´s plenty of instructables out there where you can rewire your phone to make it work nowadays...
But if you could use your old rotary phone without making changes, just connecting the jack and the board make all the magic?
By this way you not only would have a original phone but would also make it usable for our new technology.

A couple years ago when visiting a Verizon store, the salesman there tried to sell me a device and services that would replace existing land line services. It wasn't a cell phone itself, rather it was a small box that you plugged your existing home wiring into. It basically would act as a cell network to "old fashioned" land line adapter. All the voltages and ring signals, etc. required for an old fashioned phone would be generated by the little box, and it in turn connected to the Verizon network like a cell phone. I didn't buy the service, and I don't know if it is something that they or other companies still offer, but it it is available you could effectively have a rotary cell phone. If you were to provide the box with the right power supply via batteries, etc. you could take your rotary phone anywhere, like a cell phone.

A micro processor of your choice can convert the contact closure rate sequences to the very combination of binary numbers that your wifi handset is already being used by cable running into your abode..

I think they exist. You'll have to Google hard for it.
