Setting Default Program Mac OS X Help?

Under the Get Info window, I select the program I would like to set a new default for (in this instance, a .wmv file).  I can select any individual file, and have it open in Quicktime, but when I hit the change all button, it changes them all to open in Streamclip (which I've never selected).  I restarted, and the same thing continues to happen.  I'm using Leopard (10.5).  Help or ideas are appreciated.

I have 10.6.8, and (thankfully) don't have this issue, but from what I've found out, there are some quirks (if not a full fledged bug) associated with some versions...

That being said, there is a free app that will allow you to gain control over how your files open, and select whichever program you choose.

I haven't seen this problem myself, but I do have a somewhat related problem with setting the application via Get Info.  I do that with shell scripts (setting the App to X11) so that I can launch them from my dock.  The problem is that if I go back and edit the script, it loses the application setting :-(
