How good is Sketch-Up for doing 3D drawings?

It all depends on what you're trying to do. Sketchup is great for quick architectural models, interior design mockups, some simple space design and rendering, but it's not made for product design, furniture, engineering, etc. It's also very expensive for the full version, and there are some serious limitations with the free version.

I use Fusion 360 for everything. It's pretty advanced but it's easy to learn and the full version is free indefinitely (you'll have to renew your free license once a year) if you make less than $100K per year using it.

If you're totally new to 3D, you'll probably want to start with TinkerCAD. It's also free and and it's super easy to learn. Most people start with TinkerCAD, then move on to Fusion 360 if they want to do things that are more complex.
