Uses for old cell phones?

I found a cell phone in good condition in the trash. What can I do with it, it charges up. I don't want to sell it and I don't use TMobile. Anything fun I can do with it?

Depending on the model, you might be able to buy a usb cable online and transfer compatible games and music to it. Some models will even allow transfers like that via bluetooth. If it has a camera, you can use the camera as well (and take pictures off via USB or bluetooth). You can probably construct a makeshift holder and mount the camera on a pole or a balloon and see what kind of pictures you get. Same goes for lots of other fun photography projects, as long as they don't require high-resolution images or a good auto-focus. Depending on where you live, the phone may still be able to make emergency calls to 911. Give TMobile's local dealer a call and ask about this. I keep a few old phones around for just this reason. One in my big first aid kit, one in my hiking/cycling bag, and one in my travel bag. It can be a nuisance to keep them charged, but it isn't too hard to manage. They don't have to be turned on until you need them. Other than that, there's not much. There are lots of applications for a connected cell phone, beyond normal use, but a dead cell phone might not even be useful as parts. If none of the above appeal to you, sell it or recycle it.
I like the idea of putting cell phones in first aid kits.
Yeah, it's been a lifesaver a few times. Even if you don't have a 911 emergency, you can usually call customer service and activate the phone with a credit card number (for GSM phones, you'll need a SIM to do this).
You can maybe use as mobile modem for a computer. Or even a dedicated alarm clock , or what about a microscope?

Use it to remote trigger things? Most phones will have a few pins that will change voltage when they're rung so that if headphones were attached you could hear through them. You could use this to.... trigger fireworks from afar, turn a light on/off in your house while you're away so it looks like you're in, turn your sprinkler on/off while you're away. What model phone is it?
