What are all these gift exchange topics I've been seeing about?

I looked all over the Forums, but I couldn't find anything about it, other than all of the applications.
I'm sure I've just overlooked something, somewhere. Some incite would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

It's a gift exchange between instructable members were you make a hand made gift to give someone and receive one in exchange. The link explains it better. http://www.instructables.com/contest/giftexchange/
