You could use either the mattress pump or the air exhaust from the vacuum as an air source, and cut up a white plastic garbage bag into strips (or leave it as a bag, maybe). Anyway, wait for it to get dark, then place the bag over the air pump or vacuum exhaust, and place the flashlight inside there also, facing up. Wire the air source to a long switch so you can trigger it from afar. When someone wanders by, trigger the air, and the bag will inflate, rising up from the ground, lit from within by the flashlight. Add some spooky sound playback through your speakers, and maybe you've got something there to frighten people with.

It's a pretty good flow and powerful compared to similar others. That sounds quite interesting actually. I've never been huge into Halloween, but I do love pranking people! ;-) And maybe if powder was in an inverted milk bottle, and air blown through the cap end of it, it would have the possibility of looking like smoke?... Hmm I'll have to try it out.
