What does the sourdough taste like?

Hi, I'm from Venezuela and I'll like to know, if it's possible to describe in words, how does the sourdough should taste like?

I've seen a lot of recipes about sourdough and sourdough starter and I've already tried to make my own.  The result was the bread in the picture and I got to say that I really really liked it's flavor, but I really don't know if that's how it's suposed to taste.

Thank you for your help.

Sourdough bread is a hard crust bread, usually with tangy taste that can vary form barely perceptible to definitely sour, depending on the recipe and the sourdough base. In texture, it is quite like a French bread. As for taste, as Lemonie says, just make whichever suits your palate. There is no rule stating how it must taste.

.  I'd call it a slight vinegar-like taste (actually lactic acid). Tangy (or twangy). YMMV. As others have said, there is no particular "right" taste for sourdough - part of the beauty of sourdough is the variety.

Forget about how it is "supposed to taste" - if you like it it's good.
Things you eat should taste good, you say it does so that's great. No worries.

Don't worry about it.  If you like it then its right.  Different sour dough breads taste slightly (or more) different.

If you like it and your company likes then you've got a winner.
Sourdough should taste slightly more acidic than ordinary bread, a little like yogurt. The exact flavor will depend on which species of yeast and bacteria are growing in your sourdough starter.

yeasty. with the vaguest hint of tartness, although that word is far too strong to use really. Best thing is to make a loaf and taste test it in comparison to something you're more familiar with in white breads (sourdough is most often a form of white bread)
