What is a forum topic?

I've seen and heard about this my I still can't figure out what it is.

The forums are the place to ask questions, share a cool project from another site, find collaborators for your latest project, or discuss anything of interest to the Instructables community.

 a forum topic is "usually" where people talk abou the main subject but alot of the times  the topic goes in multiple directions check my forum out in my group movieand book brainstorm
