What is a good, cheap setup for a server computer?

I am looking to build a server computer to run some basic stuff like file hosting, and maybe some ventrilo. (Maybe a game server in the future) What would be a good setup for someone on a budget?

Almost any cheap PC with a network jack and a decent hard drive will function as a file server for a home network. Upgrade the RAM and CPU a step or two if you're using it for torrents. Depending on the game server and how many players it has to accomodate, a cheap PC may be fine or you may need a powerhouse with a more serious internet connection. If you intend it for heavy use as a personal PC as well as a server, you need to change the question to "How can I find my ideal PC based on my budget and computer-using habits".
