What is this? Bolt thingamajig??

What is this thing?
I found this while hiking. It was half buried in the ground.
It has two huge M20 Bolts, One is a left hand, And one is a right hand bolt. I suppose that it has soemthing to do with cars
I have attached a couple pictures below.

What is this?

Hello,

I believe it to be a cable tensioner.

http://www.directindustry.com/prod/schmersal/produ...

I have seen them mainly used for tensioning wire fences but yours is huge so maybe it's for tensioning the cables on something structural like an aerial mast or a pylon.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I wasn't even able to find one at this size online, It can probably withstand severla tons of force!

I haven't measured it, But just by picking it up, I can estimate that is weight maybe a little more than 2KG's!

But it looks to me like I could make something with it :)

It's big but yes technically it is called a turnbuckle.

Ooop!

I turned this into a vise several days ago. Just in case someone might be interested: https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Build-a-Twi...

Works! :-) good use.

Here's the largest one McMaster-Carr sells: http://www.mcmaster.com/#2999t69/=12lcptj

Using your hand as a reference, it looks about the same size as yours. The bolts are 1"-8 (roughly M25), and the eyes at the ends are 3-3/4" OD (9.5 cm). The spec says it's rated up to 5 tons.

It is used to tension tighten / loosen cables in immediate action...

Just put a screw driver through it and turn the body..
