What should I do with a 13v 4 amp transformer?

I have a 13 volt 4 amp transformer from a subwoofer that stopped working. What can I do with this to put it to some use?

You could also scrap it for all of the copper, if the primary and secondary are copper. Copper is very high priced at $4 per pound. if it weighs 5 pounds, you have got yourself $20

This is the transformer

To my eyes it looks like a large flat ( Brass colored ) shorted turn.
This magnetic thing may be more then a transformer.
Were there any kind of capacitors attached to this before ? A

the amp circuit just has a 4700uf 25v capacitor

It feels about 5 pounds, and I could use the money, would I have to take it apart and get just the copper out of it?

someone also suggested a trickle charger but I don't have the parts to make one.
You would be taking a chance, but first I would take the wrapping off (gold and green) and see if it looks like copper, usually if it has some weight, it will be copper, and then you dissassemble it, you can use the method in this video

I'll do that cause I have 2 of these

Don't destroy it, until you find where you can sell copper and how small a batch the buyer is willing to bother with !

Well I want to make an electromagnet so if I can't sell it I can at least do that.
I have done this before with 3 pounds of copper from a transformer and got $10 for it all, you can just take it to your local scrap yard.

make an inverter and power you tv, radios etc.
Make a tazer

I was planning to make a tazer with a power adapter for a backlight, those run at 2.5-10kv XD

tazer lol. just made finished mine yesterday. 15kv running on a 1.5V AAA battery
Give it to me, i want it. gimmy gimmy gimmy!
seriousy though, almost every electrical project here that doesnt require high voltages (e.g. 1-99kv), could work with that transformer. though i doubt its 13v, its probably 14-16v, transformers never output what they say they do, ts always more.

youll need something to step the voltage down though, like a potentiometer suitable for 20-80 watts to handle the power without over heating.

I can\t really order anything online so I wont be able to find a potentiometer that works.

Make a very nice 12VDC general purpose power supply,
A nice supply for outdoor landscape lighting.
Or a very good supply for a multitude of LED projects. A

I alreay built a power supply from a computer PSU, LED projects might be neat

Save it until you have a use for it. This is the basis for all "MAN" activities that SOoooo annoy women.
