Ideas: Use it to bludgeon small household pests. Take it out to international waters and marry it with your Hit Clips. Tie a nasty note to it and toss it into somebody's window. Wrap it up nicely and gift it to the next kid you hear whining for an iPod. Honestly, the display might be of some use if you can figure out it's operation, and there may be a few spare parts in there you can salvage... but as it is... it's an over-priced toy... nothing more.

In all seriousness, there's not much you can do to hack the circuit board to do anything other than what it does. There's circuit-bending, being the art of short-circuiting an electronic device for the purposes of creating interesting noise/sound. To the best of my knowledge, the hardware is solid-state, and can't run any other software than what is built-in. Which is unfortunate, because this thing is terrible at what it does. I understand your desire to hack it... but I do believe any major change of how it operates will involve replacing the entire circuit board.

OK, what's wrong with it as it is? It's a media player - hook it up to a Tesla-coil or something? (what are you thinking at) L
