What voltage is an ipod charger?

5 volts. I made my own backup power supply for my iPhone and i used a 9 volt battery w/ a 7805 MOSFET.
 I understand that USB voltage is nominaly 5V, but Apple's own knowledge base article on the matter states that their iPod power adapter has an output voltage of 12V.  Seems pretty high, but that's what Apple is saying.

All USB devices run off of 5V DC. Yes, an Ipod charger supplies 5V at a minimum of 100mA.
