Here is a relay circuit that should wait 300 sec before restarting your AC.

If you don't play with R & C components replace K2 with a dial in delly relay.

It is good to wait a few minutes before restarting the air conditioner because very often when the electric shuts off.... it comes back on, but will very likely SHUT OFF again! This on/off....on/off....on/off cycling of anything electronic can damage the power circuits or blow fuses. If you do attach a relay to automatic-restart the air conditioner, it is a good idea to have a 5 or 10 minute waiting period before restarting. I worked 10 years doing maintenance routines to 750kiloWatt diesel generators at one job.... and they had this kind of delay built-in because of the reasons I mentioned.

Yes you can get the AC to start automatically after a short blackout.

You need a timed starter where a timer waits 5 minutes before restarting the AC.

The reason for the 5 minute wait is to let the AC compressor release the back pressure in the lines.

If you don't have a waiting period before restarting the back pressure can overload the compressor motor and burn it out.

The hookup depends on the exact construction of your AC, but it is a simple timer and relay.
