Where can i get furniture style pvc fittings in the UK?

I see so many good things about PVC pipe used for building things. In America you seem to be able to get lots of sizes of pipe and specialist fittings. In the UK  in bricks and mortar stores we are limited to just plumbing supplies. ie 21mm 32mm and 40mm pipe - we cant get corner 3 way fittings, 4 or  way, or any of the many pipe termination specials.

I have a project in mind for which 25mm pipe would be ideal, but i need 5-way connectors, as well as some simple end teminations that push INTO the pipes not OVER the end.

I have googled until my fingertips bleed but can only find this supplier in the UK

Frankly the prices are ridiculous - almost 6 times the equivalent US price - what goes for $1 in the states is around £4 in the UK thats just nonsense.

Does anyone know any UK or even European outlet that will sell smallish quantities to me in the UK without these prices and without astronomical shipping and import charges?

Help please.

I'm just interested to know if anyone has found a UK supplier of furniture grade PVC tubing and joints.

Thanks Glenn

Hello,

Ixi-devices aren't happy with the prices either as we don't make any money from this business - it is a hobby and we have day jobs.
That is why no one else in the UK / Europe sell these fittings - there is no money in it.
We like them though and believe they should be available here and many people in the UK have found them useful.
Problems with selling things from other countries like PVC products is the UK and Europe are: quite high taxation regimes to encourage local business' to produce such products. It makes loads of sense to do this otherwise the UK becomes too dependent on other countries products and that is not good for the economy.

Furthermore, the fittings come from the USA and shipping pipe and fittings from the USA is costly to say the least.
To make the dies for injection molding these fittings in local DIY store pipe sizes would cost about £500 000 so there will be no takers on that front anytime soon either.
Having said that our utility non furniture grade fittings are much cheaper although they do have markings printed on them.

We again apologize for the high prices but we cannot afford to do it any other way.

There are also loads of ways one can use ordinary DIY store fittings to achieve many a project.

Happy making and all the best to everyone

Hi Brendan, are IXI-devices still operating? I'd like to place an order.

formufit.com will ship to the UK, but their shipping prices are usually higher than the product cost.

Don't hit the plain brick and mortar stores. You need to hunt down plumbing suppliers. There are always warehouses that plumbers and electricians go to get their supplies so they are not paying retail. All you gotta do is find them. Talk to a local plumber and see where they get their supplies.

Here in South Africa we have a UV resistant pvc fitting range called Connect-It, stocked by vinyl suppliers to the signage industry. Its used for making the aluminium frames and comes in 25mm for round or square tube.
