Where can you get/make cheap forging tongs?

I'm wondering where you can get or make easy tongs for forging. I do not have an arc welder, plasma torch or set of tongs to forge them with. I'm also only 13.

Funnily enough, tongs like those weren't ever made with the benefit of a welder, plasma torch or much of anything apart from a couple of heavy rocks.

Buy some 3/4" x 1/4" flat mild steel bar, and you can do the whole job cold.

Your only 13?!?!
Why would that matter?
Here, the more intelligent of us (I'm not included, I'm only 15), don't care or discriminate based on age, gender, race, sexual orientation, etc.

But spelling and grammar are verrrrrry important. :D

Yeah, I got that part. Generally just saying "I'm very poor" will help get the message across.

Use a big set of channel lock pliers.  Borrow them if you have to.  You could make a set by using wire to bind together two rods and clamp the rod between them by holding the open ends.

....or you can do exactly what Re-Design says and use a big pair of cheap channel locks.

Could you start out with a cheap pair of fireplace tongs? Perhaps pick up something suitable at a car boot sale?
