A yellow rod is like a slug, some whites are like buckshot and greens are like normal rounds.o and also tie them with a short string for bola rounds and take paper caps rip them into separate caps and put them on the back with stick glue for a epic effect

if u are shooting more than one at a time then white rods,if you just shooting one at a time then blue rods

im shooting 8 white rods at a time
then go with green rods

i use em all when i shoot greens i load a minimum of 12 green rods and up to 20
I'm gonna add my two cents now. I personally prefer the shortest green rods because they are perfect for spread shot like a truee shotgun. Even in single shot form, although they tend to tumble in flight, they have the greatest range and are still accurate enough to hit a pop can at 20 yards. In a Knex battle, pop cans at 20 yards is more than sufficiently "deadly" for me.
How do you fit eight in there?

u just can lol u can stack 4 on top of another 4 it shoots great that way

It all depends really one what you're going for. Yellows are probably the best for range but that's not really the purpose of a shotgun. Green rods are space efficient and would probably get decent spread without being affected as much by spinning out as longer rods would. Blue spacers would be interesting. They're very space efficient and would possibly have some stability if you could get spin on them. Of course they would be annoying to have to look for but still interesting to try out nonetheless.

i find whites to b about perfect they r more stable in flight than yellows and therefore get more range than yellows but its not that they get more range they also tend to stay on target for longer they still spread nice but not crazy everywhere it is more concentrated which means a higher chance that u will hit your target at greater distances
Mepain made a shotgun round that fires spacers.
You would probably have the most realistick shotgun if you used greens. But alas, they are hard to find on grass and so small, they slip into sidewalk cracks. Even if with them you would fire 14 bullets at once making its preformance more like a shotguns. It also results in more spreadshot. Still, the choice is yours.
i shot 12 to 20 green rods out of my shotgun at a time it works ok but loading is a pain and finding them would b impossible

Normally, I'd shoot green or white rods because those are closer to the pellet shot shotguns normally shoot, but with something like your gun, I'd use yellows.

blues, i think they are the most stable in flight, use them, trust me...

blues r alright but r difficult to find in grass which is one reason i don't use then... blue and whites shoot very similarly its hard to say which one is better for what im looking for
try yellows then

As you said in the video, the whites tend to shoot better. I'd go with whites. Also, 8 shots gives more shotgun feel. I can't wait until I get my pieces in to make one of these.

yeah its hard to say what works best... im still in the process of just testing shotgun ideas i actually found that a using 7 white rods shoots the best
