Who's a cool artist or who's cool as a subject? L

You've been naughty: Inappropriate use of KNEX as a tag, vague question.

osamu tezuka is highly regarded as an anime artist, I'll give you that much.

Go away lemon head who cares if she used knex as a tag

the only 2 people I know who could answer your question the best are Keith kid (hes dead I think) and izanagi telos. they are both huge anime fanboys.

Answers are short lived, I don't think anyone really searches them. Like rising balloons unless someone grabs hold while they're close to the ground, they float out of of sight. If you're interested in a subject you know Forums are better.
And while you did get some exposure to the KNEX community, DJ's reply is what I've come to expect.

What you might call "classic" anime films:

Well known film artwork on those imdb links - perhaps the darker side of stuff, so osamu tezuka might be your best bet for kids. L

2 words, Hayao Miyazaki. such masterpieces as Ponyo, Spirited away, Howl's Moving Castle!

Don't forget "My Neighbor Totoro"! When I was younger, that was one of my favorite movies!

Sure the question has already been answered, but Miyazaki warrants a "WOOT"! Classic, and enjoyable for kids and adults alike (well for the most part... Grave of the Fireflies just made me cry)!

Oh yeah, Batman Gotham Knight is also another cool film with six different anime styles showcased across six different Batman-based stories.

In addition to the works by Osamu Tezuka and Hayao Miyazaki, there's a ton out there. I personally would recommend:

The Animatrix- Multiple Mega Famous Anime/Manga Artists and Directors including several listed below
- Features Nine Different anime styles in under a two-hour sitting.

Katsuhiro Otomo- Artist / Director / Writer
- Took American audiences by storm with Akira, great late 80's anime film and manga. Get / Rent a copy of Memories, it's an awesome film with three short films each in a different style. He's also known for the hit, Steamboy

Anything by director Shinchiro Watanabe (Director). (i.e. Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, & Macross Plus) The man's a genius. The artwork in all of the series is great and highly detailed.
- For Cowboy Bebop, he mix-mashed western/ spaghetti western-style story lines (which were really based off of old Japanese samurai storylines) with a jazz/acid jazz soundtrack. The series and movies are based around the exploits of a group of intergalactic bounty hunters.
-For Samurai Champloo, he mix-mashed samurai storylines with hip hop culture and mad hip hop beats.

- Toshihiro Kawamoto is another great animation director and character designer to check out.
He produced character designs for several popular series such as Cowboy Bebop, several Mobile Suit Gundam series, Witch Hunter Robin, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Wolf's Rain.

Yoshiyuki Sadamoto - Artist
- This guy was the man behind character designs for Neon Genesis Evangelion series and movies (you need to see the series to understand the movies) as well as the series FLCL (a whole bunch of anime styles are showcased through out the six-episode series, worth watching just for that and the soundtrack.)

Mamoru Oshii- Filmmaker / Writer
- Highly recognized for his philosophical storylines. Among the most notable being Ghost in the Shell, which delves into issues and philosophical thoughts around the differences between man and machine and aspects of the soul. Masamune Shirow was the manga artist for Ghost in the Shell manga. Excellent with futuristic technology / machine-based art.

Yutaka Minowa-Artist
- Designed characters and styles for anime such as Ninja Scroll (awesome), Escaflowne, Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

Satoshi Kon- Director
- Great movies with great characters designs include Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers, Perfect Blue, and Millennium Actress. You have to check out the parade scenes in Paprika. They are unlike anything you've ever seen. Awesomely complex, surreal, and mezmorizing. He also did the anime series, Paranoia Agent, which a really interesting take on human fear and denial.

Feel free to drop me a message for more.
