Why can I not use yahoo or google search or reach either with the url address through Firefox, IE, or Google Chrome?

I have run male wares, changed from Norton to Trend Titanium Maximum and everything else I can think of to fix this problem.
EX. Firefox - search bar - search with google - dolphins - result:  problem loading page
Firefox - url - http://www.google.com - result: problem loading page
Same for yahoo

Suggestions are quite needed and welcome. However, I need complete detailed instructions to make changes to registries or anything of that nature. I can do it, just need step by step. Thanks in advance and God bless you for the assistance.

PC is HP Pavilion a1310y
Windows XP
Firefox 5.0

You've found that trying everything still doesn't work if you don't know what the problem is?
I would try taking "everything" out, i.i. the Norton etc. Assuming it's just Google & Yahoo that are affected.
How about microsoft.com?

Also check your Net Nanny, if you have one installed.

Can you ping those sites (for example, does "ping www.google.com" show you replies coming back)? If not, then something is blocking the connection at TCP/IP level -- either the domain name resolution is wrong, or the connection isn't going through for some reason. If it *does* show responses, then the blockage is specifically (a) in the browser or (b) against connecting to port 80.

Completely uninstall it and then reinstall the latest version. If it still doesn't work then you know the problem is with another piece of software.

Sounds to me as though they they are being blocked by an anti-virus or malware screening program. Check Windows Defender and any other programs you have installed that pre-screen your downloads and make sure those sites you can't access are on the whitelist.
You need to run female wares.
